    ATV Safety Institute questions

I am assuming most of you have taken the course.  Can anyone tell me what the course covers?  We are scheduled to take it this weekend.  The wife is a little nervous as to what they  are gonna want her to do.  Thanks

never taken the class.  15years experience with MX quad racing I feel like a Nascar driver having to go to Sears for a driving class.. but rules are rules I supposed and I want to ride the forrest.  Would like to hear how it goes and how much it cost?

You can  check out http://www.atvsafety.org/  for available classes in your area.  You can call (800) 887-2887,  give them your Vin number and they can check to see if you qualify.  If you qualify, the class is free.  Polaris actually pays 100 bucks to you to take it. Not sure about the other makes, they all have a different reward.  Your family members can also take it.   They even have loaners if you only have one atv.   I still dont know what all is done is the class.  If anybody out there has taken it give a shout out.  thanks

    Re: ATV Safety Institute questions

all manufacturs do this, everytime a NEW atv is sold. its pretty much worked into the cost, you just dont know it. so yes its "free". the $100 goes to the instructor. thats how they get paid for putting on these courses.

as far as what it is. its super simple. they go over "how to stop" "how to turn" "decideding whether to go over or around an obsticle" "always wear a helmet"............

extreamly easy. nothing to be worried about. the PLUS is that they hold these classes at atv parks mostly, so you get to ride the park for free pretty much.

I've taken the class.  Like Randy said, its VERY BASIC INFO. Its designed for beginners. The only reason I took it was to get the $100 reward (paid by Honda at that time) after I purchased a new Honda atv.  Its boring if you are an experienced rider, but its a good beginners course for someone who has never ridden an ATV before, or hasn't ridden one in many years.  Its especially good for kids.

    Happy trails...:)

    Re: ATV Safety Institute questions

Wow, glad that is over.  The Nascar driver taking the Sears driving school is not even a fair comparison.  More like your parents taking you to your first parking lot to drive.  All 5 hours of it were spent in the mud.  They teach you how to turn, run over a landscape timber, turn sharper, turn quicker, and though I never understood completly, we learned how to ride a figure 8.  But, 100 bucks is a hundred bucks, and we got our certificates.
