    Which mud tires???

I am trying to decide what tires to get for a 450cc foreman. we ride about 50/50 mud/trail. I am trying to decide between the mudlite XL, Swamplite, Zillas or the swamp bitches. Any opinions?

Does anyone know anything about these swamp bitches?

     Thanks

    Robert

    Re: Which mud tires???

    Robert,

I have run several of the tires you mentioned, most recently the Zilla and am very pleased. Obviously they dont pull like my Laws in the mud but we run alot of fast trails as well as mud and they seem to be the best trail / mud combination I have used. They are extremely light and run true at higher speeds on hard pack.

I change tires & wheels based on where we are riding but IMO the Zilla has been great.

I bought my 27" Zillas online for $354.00, shipped.

     Just my $.02

Bubba, what size did you go with front and back on your bugs? I think i am going to go with them

as well, and get rid of the mudlites. I want 27's, What do they measure on the rear as far as width?

Also where did you get them for 271.00 shipped?

    Thanks,

    Robert,

We have lots of members and of course when we are all at camp there is discussion about tires, grip, ride, compound and so forth.

I personally and most everyone we ride with like the Swamp lite 26" or larger = 1 1/8" tread depth. super in the mud and great on the tral because the compound is soft. I with my 500 Vinson with 26" swamp lites will almost always have to pull my buddy thru a mud hole on his 800 sportsman with 29 zilla's. O did I say they have really great flotation potential.

Go to http://easttexasatv.com/mudthrowers.aspx where you can get almost any tire and wheel at a great price.

They are one of our sponsors and offer our members 10% off + free shipping.

    Happy hunting

    Re: Which mud tires???

I disagree with you on the swamplights out performing the mudzillas in the mud but yes on the trail that is why I traded my mudzillas for the swamplights.swamlights are a great tire but they are heavy.just my .02 cents but with that size bike I would go with the lightest, tallest and one with a little side lug on tire that I could fit on the bike for more ground clearnce.

    Re: Which mud tires???

I have been looking at the perelli Mudwiser. I had a set of 26X10X12 that is a flat out steal. They look almost identical to the ITP mud lites. I can't find anyone that's ever seen those on a trail though.

    Hey East Texas ,

What's the deal with the Association. What type of rides and stuff do yall do. There is a group of about 10 of us that ride and we have been thinking about starting up an "official" group of some sort.

    Re: Which mud tires???

    Maxxis mudzilla 10" X 28" - 12"  weigh 35.6Lbs each with 1.181" tread depth

    Interco swamp lite 10" X 28" - 12" weigh 38.0Lbs each with 1.562" tread depth

So you are right they are a little lighter only 2.4Lbs difference in weight, but you gain that back with the tread depth .381" of extra tread.

Plus the rubber compound is super buoyant, Step-down tread pattern adds to the lug strength, and helps in reverse having more edges to grip terrain.

Everyone has there own opinion but for the extra 9.6Lbs total for all 4 tires it is worth getting the swamp lites. You will not be disappointed.

Need anymore tire spec's let me know I have a 3" binder of info on ATV tires.

    Re: Which mud tires???

I was not saying that there was not that much difference between the swamps and the mudzillas as far as weight but the other few brands that were mentioned such as the mud bugs and zillas are alot lighter. From my past experiance with the 400cc bikes and smaller you need to keep the weight and strickly mud tread patterns to a minimum.

Mudzillas have a hard rubber compound and has a good tread patern for mud and they also clean out well but they ride rougher than heck on the trails and still is a heavy tire

Swamplights ride good and mud fairly well but they dont clean out all that good and are heavy
