Re: Centex ATV Club Progress at Boulder Creek
Good work guys. We were out last week, and I too rolled the quad. Mine was in a different area when it rolled, but it rolled all the same. I got a little work to get it back to normal again. The tie-rod bent, a ripped CV boot, and a broken brake lever. The joys of extreme riding.
I am glad you are working on new trails. Did you get any type of markings? One problem I have out there is that I take what appears to be a trail, and it dead ends after the first couple of turns, and I have to back out and try a different route. I know a section on the back fence line that was like that, and a few different people ended up going down into a very steep ravine with no way out. I saw that it was roped off last week, so that is good. I did make it to radio tower this last trip, and it was the first time we were up there. I think you could get a couple of more difficult trails up to the top which should make it a little more exciting.
Keep up the good work. I don't know when I will make it back out there yet.

eltex,
We're going to try to mark a trail this weekend that goes up to the radio tower. No guarantees we'll make it. There are some rough/steep/rocky areas to get up. Keep an eye on this forum..I'll post up when/if we're sucessful.

Re: Centex ATV Club Progress at Boulder Creek
It should be around 4hrs, depending on what part of Houston. It is probably around an hour from the Austin airport, or an hour from Elgin, depending on if you come in on 71 or 290. I can't get used to having people travel from out of the area to come to Central Texas for riding, but it is nice for a change. Boulder Creek is a great place to ride, especially for the style of riding I do. I love extreme and technical riding. I like being on the edge and having to guess between a winch or just hammering down and going for it. Of course, that is why my Brute has a bent frame right now. It didn't like that last roll-over out there. I am not sure if I like that they are trying to keep the quad's off the 4x4 trails. I think they indicated it was so we wouldn't slow those guys down, but I hardly ever see a full-size rig out there, so that doesn't seem right.
Much like Arkansas and West VA, we will need quad trails of different difficulty ratings. I also have a 3 year old at home, so trails that work for her a well will be appreciated. I just can't wait for her to reach the floor-boards of the Brute.

Re: Centex ATV Club Progress at Boulder Creek
Eltex,
You must have read BC's website. It looks like they are going to restrict ATVs/Dirt bikes from going into the 750 area. While this means we (ATVers) lose some nice riding areas, I'm sure they're doing if for safety reasons, as well as to not infringe on the big-rigs enjoyment. However, that still leaves around 2200 acres (maybe more, but it seems l like my GPS recorded around that number when I circled the perimter once) for ATVs and dirt bikes. Also, if we can get the trails cut on the southeast side of Wildcat Mountain as we're planning, there will be some extreme stuff. Jeff has also said there's an area to the north of that that we can cut some more. Send me an email (waverunner800@satx.rr.com) and I can send you some jpegs and a kmz file of the trail we're going to try to mark this weekend. You gotta get them kids riding so you can go more...
atvmxer,
It's worth the four hour trip from Houston. Especailly if you're going to spend the weekend. They dont have RV hookups yet, but, you're only about 10 minutes form Marble Falls, and I"m sure it's got a few hotels. Or just dry camp in the RV or tent. I always take a machete with me to fend off Bigfoot...
