Clash of the Titans Spring Nationals Memorial Day Weekend
Well it's not in Texas it's in Sicily Island Lousiana. It's one of the largest 300' sand drag races held. $30 entry fee per bike per class. 80% payout per class with 1st place recieving 70% and 2nd recieving 30% of the 80%. There is a class for everyone to run in from 4x4 limited to unlimited drag chasis class. Even if you don't have a bike you want to race it is alot of fun to go watch some of the fastest quads in the world in 300'. I will be there racing in the 4x4 limited and unlimited classes and I'm sure you will have a great time if you come and race or watch. If you plan on entering the races you better be bringing the heat. There will be people from all over the US there to race. If you can manage to win your class in this event then you've got some real bragging rights. This is one of those events that will let you know whether your a big fish in a little pond or you actually have something you can be proud of. Here's your chance boys and girls let's see what you've got.

Re: Clash of the Titans Spring Nationals Memorial Day Weekend
Jay,
This event sounds like a total blast! I'm quite sure there'd be more folks on this forum who are interested if not for the long distance to this event. From my house in Conroe (north houston area), its a 290 mile drive to Sicily Island (almost 6 hours each way). That is an aweful LONG way to drive just to get my butt handed to me in a drag race!! lol :) One of these days I'd like to make the trip...if not to compete, at least to come watch all the action and see how the big boys get it done. I think I need a set of sand tires before I'd bother to compete in that event...I'm guessing there's just no way I can keep up with you and the other fast utes in a sand drag while using my stock tires.
Happy trails...:)

Re: Clash of the Titans Spring Nationals Memorial Day Weekend
I figured that last post would get a response. LOL Oh come on Mike. I know you've driven that far for a XC race in the past. It's around 4.5 hours for me. I know you are just getting into drags now but this would be a great baptism by fire. Unless the CanAm guys REALLY step it up your bike would be right in the hunt. Yeah you need to get some paddles before you come out for the competion. I tell you what contact CC1999 from kawieriders and atvconnection. He has several sets of paddles. He's a great guy and brought some for me to use at the last event. Luckily mine came in 2 days before we left. Ask him if he will throw an extra set for you to try before you buy your own. Or I'll ask him to throw an extra set in the truck if your more comfortable with that. For that matter you can run mine all you want just not in the competion. Looks like Guage and some other guys from Kawieriders will be there. I'm looking forward to seeing Guages bike run. It's suppost to run 4.8s on all motor. We will see cuz I know what mine runs. If I pickup what I've been told from these new mods then he better be at least in the 4.9s.

Re: Clash of the Titans Spring Nationals Memorial Day Weekend
You missed a good wide open track!! It had about 3 miles of woods, but before the Saturday evening races too many people were getting stuck so David shut down the woods. There was only about 1/4 mile of woods and the rest was wide open pasture!! Very fast track!!
Good luck on your mud racing coming up

Re: Clash of the Titans Spring Nationals Memorial Day Weekend
Ken,
Are you planning to go to the the Planet Sand Nat'ls race in April? If so, I wish you good luck on that hybrid. I guess you realize that Gilbert, LA is about a 6 hours drive from Conroe. I've come to realized I don't have to drive that far if I'm looking to get my butt kicked in a drag race! lol
Happy trails...?)

Re: Clash of the Titans Spring Nationals Memorial Day Weekend
Hey guys just to let you know if you already don't this Clash is going back to it's roots. This time there will be no lights, no classes, no trophies, no prize purses, no ARGUEING and BICKERING. The Clash was originally started as a run what ya brung and hope ya brought enough event. It was for all the guys who only knew each other over the forums and by their reputations. Well like any good event it slowly changed and became larger than the original guys could have imaginined. And like any large organized racing event where money becomes involed there were people who began to argue, complain about one thing or another, and take a large portion of the fun out of a great event. So with all that said, the Clash is going back to it's roots. 2 groomed tracks with all of the heads up, run what ya brung, good ol fashioned get it on grudge match racing. It dosen't matter what you've got there will be competion there for ya. Don't let the fact that there won't be lights and organized classes keep you from comming. This will be a great event and still have some of the fastest bikes around. Now it's just set up alittle better for the average guys. I hope to see yall there.

Re: Clash of the Titans Spring Nationals Memorial Day Weekend
Jay,
Wow...what happened to cause this sudden change??? I can easily go to a local park and have informal races with folks...but the thought of going to a big organized event where they have lights and and classes sounds pretty exciting to me. That is disappointing to hear about the change (even tho I didn't think I'd make it to the Clash this spring).
PS - I'm still hoping to make it to the Texas Mudfest race in early May, so I look forward to seeing you then.
Happy trails...:)

Re: Clash of the Titans Spring Nationals Memorial Day Weekend
There was alot of bickering and argueing between some of the "Big Name" racers and that was draining alot of enjoyment out of the event. This will still be a big event with some serious bragging rights to be had.
If you have not been to Planet Sand it looks like the $50 entry fee for the races is going to be paid for us at Mudfest. There will still be a gate fee but that's a great way to promote the racing and get more people to show and enter. After all if it's not your money what do you have to lose.
