toured Central Park in a rickshaw,
saw Shrek the Musical at Broadway Theatre,
took water taxi to see the Statue of Liberty,
walked over the Brooklyn Bridge (30 minutes...its LONG!),
ate awesome pizza at Lombardi's,
ate at River Cafe (great view of NYC skyline),
ate some just ok italian food in Little Italy (nothing to write home about),
ate hot pastrami sandwich and cheesecake at Carnegie Deli,
shopped/people watched in Times Square, SoHo, Greenwich Village & Little Italy, etc.
rode the subway at night (not as bad as I thought it'd be),
visited the top of empire state building and top of Rockefeller Center,
saw Paul Mooney do stand-up at Carolines on Broadway, and
ate various foods from street vendors (hotdogs, Gyro, pretzel, icecream).

Was a VERY fun trip, but also expensive and very exhausting.

Below are a few pics we took while we were there...ENJOY!

The farmer agreed to deliver the mule the next day.

The next morning the farmer drove up and said, "Sorry fellows, I have some bad news, the mule died last night."

Boudreaux and Thibodeaux replied, "Well, then just give us our money back."

The farmer said, "Can't do that. You can wath the interview in its entirety. Make you own conclusions. I have never been a big fan of Billy Bob. I appreciate his acting, very good actor. Acting does NOT make you a rock star. Thats where these actors make a mistake. Its not a given. You actually have to have some music skills and talent.

TORONTO - Billy Bob Thornton's band has canceled the rest of its Canadian tour after the actor compared the country's fans to mashed potatoes with no gravy in a testy interview that caused a sensation online.

The Boxmasters opened for Willie Nelson on Thursday in Toronto , where they reportedly were booed and met with catcalls of "Here comes the gravy."

A note posted on Nelson's Web site Friday said the Boxmasters were canceling the rest of their Canadian dates "due to one band member and several of the crew having the flu."

The cancellation came two days after Thornton made world headlines with a belligerent appearance on CBC radio's "Q."

The actor apparently didn't like that host Jian Ghomeshi started the interview with references to Thornton's Hollywood career.

Thornton refused to answer many of Ghomeshi's questions directly, mumbling: "I don't know what you're talking about." He later said Ghomeshi's producers had been told ahead of time not to talk about his film career.

Thornton also had some unkind words for Canadian crowds.

"Canadian audiences seem to be very reserved," he told Ghomeshi. "We tend to play places where people throw things at each other. Here, they just sort of sit there. And it doesn't matter what you say to 'em. ... It's mashed potatoes but no gravy."

Before his Thursday night gig, Thornton tried to clarify those remarks, saying he loved Canada and his "mashed potatoes" comment had been aimed at Ghomeshi.

Media around the world delighted in the story. Entertainment Weekly's Web site ran the headline, " Billy Bob Thornton : What's his problem?"

I also put in an order for a CyberPowerPC, I found mixed reviews but the PC is made from standard components so other than being able to put it together properly anything else is goign to be individual components. Normally I would build my own but time constraints and the fact that this one cost about what I would pay to build one, I decided to take a shot. Here is what I have:

Intel Duo Core E8400 - I checked reviews and this thing rocks

4GB DDR2 RAM

500MB Radeon Vid Card ( I don't know specifics and don't want to look it up)

5 in 1 card reader

500GB Hard Drive

...and all the usual stuff. Plus, this is loaded with Vista OS included in the price of the machine.

$678.00 shipped.

It is supposed to ship next week so if anyone is interested I will post an update.

Houston - Free Black Lab pups

delete post

TEXAS LONGHORNS

HAHAHAHAHA OHIO

Their answer would determine
which of them would get the job.

The day came and as the four sat around the
conference room table, the
interviewer asked, "What is the fastest
thing you know of?"

Acknowledging the first man on his
right, the man replied, "A THOUGHT." It just
pops into your head. There's no warning.

"That's very good!" replied the interviewer.
"And, now you sir?", he asked the
second man. "Hmmm...let me see.
"A blink! It comes
and goes and you don't know that it ever
happened. A BLINK is the fastest thing I know of."

"Excellent!" said the interviewer. "The
blink of an eye, that's a very popular
cliché for speed." He then turned to the
third man, who was contemplating his
reply.

"Well, out at my dad's ranch, you step out
of the house and on the wall there's
a light switch. When you flip that switch,
way out across the pasture the light
on the barn comes on in less than an
instant. "Yep, TURNING ON A LIGHT is the
fastest thing I can think of"

The interviewer was very impressed with the
third answer and thought he had
found his man. "It's hard to beat the speed
of light," he said.

Turning to Bubba, the fourth and final man,
the interviewer posed the same
question. Old Bubba replied, "After hearing
the previous three Answers, it's
obvious to me that the fastest thing known
is DIARRHEA."

"WHAT!?" said the interviewer, stunned by
the response. "Oh sure", said Old Bubba. "You see, the
other day I wasn't feeling so good, and
I ran for the bathroom, but before I could
THINK, BLINK, or TURN ON THE LIGHT, I
had already smurf my pants."

Old Bubba is now the new greeter at a
Wal-Mart near you!
Inconvenient Tax Truths
Charlie Rangel and other liberal leaders want to raise tax rates even if it means lower tax revenues.

by PETE DU PONT
Tuesday, October 30, 2007 12:01 A.M. EDT

Nobel Peace laureate Al Gore believes global warming is "an inconvenient truth." Here are some economic truths that America's liberal leadership finds too inconvenient to support.

Tax rate reductions increase tax revenues. This truth has been proved at both state and federal levels, including by President Bush's 2003 tax cuts on income, capital gains and dividends. Those reductions have raised federal tax receipts by $785 billion, the largest four-year revenue increase in U.S. history. In fiscal 2007, which ended last month, the government took in 6.7% more tax revenues than in 2006.

These increases in tax revenue have substantially reduced the federal budget deficits. In 2004 the deficit was $413 billion, or 3.5% of gross domestic product. It narrowed to $318 billion in 2005, $248 billion in 2006 and $163 billion in 2007. That last figure is just 1.2% of GDP, which is half of the average of the past 50 years.

Lower tax rates have be so successful in spurring growth that the percentage of federal income taxes paid by the very wealthy has increased. According to the Treasury Department, the top 1% of income tax filers paid just 19% of income taxes in 1980 (when the top tax rate was 70%), and 36% in 2003, the year the Bush tax cuts took effect (when the top rate became 35%). The top 5% of income taxpayers went from 37% of taxes paid to 56%, and the top 10% from 49% to 68% of taxes paid. And the amount of taxes paid by those earning more than $1 million a year rose to $236 billion in 2005 from $132 billion in 2003, a 78% increase.

Finally, another inconvenient truth is that there have been 49 consecutive months of job growth as a result of the economic expansion induced by President Bush's 2003 tax rate reductions.

One would think that this positive economic performance would inspire Congress to continue the successful policies that caused it. But the liberal establishment takes a negative view of tax rate reductions and embraces the opposite approach: ensure expiration of the Bush tax cuts in 2011 and in the meantime enact substantial tax increases.

Rep. Charles Rangel of New York, chairman of the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee, last week introduced an estimated $3.5 trillion tax increase that would raise the capital gains tax rate from to 19.6% from 15% and places a surtax of as much as 4.6% on people making more than $150,000 a year. Mr. Rangel applies it not to current taxable income but to adjusted gross income, thus phasing down itemized deductions such as charitable contributions, home mortgage deductions, and state and local tax deductions. Together with the end of the Bush tax cuts, Mr. Rangel's plan would increase the top income tax rate to 44% from 35% for individuals, small-business owners and farmers, who make up about three-fourths of taxpayers in the highest bracket.

While raising taxes on individuals, the Rangel bill would reduce corporate tax rates to 30.5% from 35% and eliminate the alternative minimum tax. That would be "paid for" by increasing taxes on hedge funds and buyout firms by about $48 billion.

Federal tax revenues have been rising between 6.7% and 14.5% in each of the past three years, but the proposed tax increases, by slowing rather than stimulating the economy, would ensure that these percentages decline. Hillary Clinton defines the liberal tax policy as "we are going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good," but in the unlikely event that the tax bill passes Congress next year, President Bush's veto pen will surely take away from the liberal leadership things that will do harm to the common good.

On the other hand, the 2008 elections could lead to a very different outcome, for the Rangel bill shows in which direction tax policy will proceed if there is a Democratic president and Congress in 2009.

A much more interesting approach was introduced in the House three weeks ago by Rep. Paul Ryan, a Wisconsin Republican: elimination of the Alternative Minimum Tax, extension of the 15% capital gains and dividend rates that expire in 2010, and giving taxpayers a choice between filing under the current tax system or a new option with just two income tax brackets, 10% for joint filers with incomes less than $100,000 and 25% for those with higher incomes. It includes a $25,000 standard deduction plus a $3,500-a-person exemption, which comes to $39,000 for a family of four. The new option would be a flat-tax choice, with no other exemptions or loopholes, and the AMT would be gone.

Every taxpayer would be able to make a choice between the current tax system with the AMT burden, tax rates from 10% to 35%, and many complex deduction options, or the Taxpayer Choice Act. Mr. Ryan estimates that the federal government's revenues--excluding AMT revenues, the elimination of which would cost the government only about 2.4% of revenues over 10 years--would be about the same as under the current system, and the top 5% and 1% of taxpayers would pay slightly higher taxes than they do today.

Such a system would stimulate the economy, increase economic growth and job opportunities, and simplify a very complex and frustrating current tax system. But for the liberal establishment a flat tax with lower rates would be a very inconvenient truth. Much better in their view are the substantial Rangel tax increases.

Mr. du Pont, a former governor of Delaware, is chairman of the Dallas-based National Center for Policy Analysis. His column appears once a month.

Ike!!!!!

Well my wife has been told she will be staying at the hospital through out this hurricane so that leaves me at the house to ride out this storm.
