As some of you know I have been off (laid off) since April and so far haven't had much luck finding anything so I thought I would throw it out here and see if anyone knows of anywhere. I have been in supply chain (planning, purchasing, sourcing, operations, analysis and management) for the last 6 or 7 years in electronics and oil related industries. GOOD NEWS: Today, my son and I earn our yellow belts in Tae Kwon Do after 2 months of taking lessons.

BAD NEWS: During my test, I did jump side kick and landed wrong. When I landed, I heard my left knee POP and immediately felt extreme pain whenever I tried to stand up or put any weight on my left leg. Luckily, that kick was my last part of the test except for breaking a wooden board (which I did with my fist).

After spending 2 hours in the ER, I was told to go see an Orthopedic doc as soon as possible and get an MRI to see what the real damage is to my knee. Hopefully its just a bad sprain, but who knows. The ER sent me home on crutches and pain pills. Still hurts like heck even after taking the pain meds. Who knew that a yellow belt test could be so dangerous?!? lol

On the bright side, I'm very proud of my son...he broke the board on his first try (he kicked it hard).

Winter Project: Build a Tree House for my kids

When I moved to a new house last summer, the first thing that hit me was that the backyard really needed a tree house so my kids could enjoy living here more. So that is my winter project.

CURRENT PROGRESS:
Two words sum it up best: Painfully slow! lol

Last week, I spent a few days clearing out the underbrush. I finally started construction phase yesterday and now have completed 2 full days of construction. I'm happy to report the following progress:

I attached one board between 2 trees (will be part of the floor platform), and
I dug two holes (for the 4"x4" posts).

Believe it or not, that's all I have to show for 2 days of work! LOL

DAY 1:
I spent 1/2 of the first day making a list and buying tools/supplies...then had to meet up with my dad so I could borrow his generator (needed to operate my electric drill & skill saw b/c the tree house is approx. 350 feet behind my house). Got the board mounted between 2 trees in the afternoon.

DAY 2:
I spent 1/2 day making wedges and leveling that board up in the tree (board sits in the "Y" of one tree). The afternoon was spent taking lots of measurements and digging 2 deep holes for the 4x4 posts.

Even tho I'm working on this project by myself, I thought I'd be MUCH further along by now. Hopefully things will go much faster after I get the floor platform built.

Hello Everyone,

Hopefully this post does not violate the rules here on TexasATVs, I chose the offtopic forum in hopes that it was the right place for it and would allow me the most freedom for my post. I didn't think this subject didn't really fit into the Groups \ Organizations just yet, however hopefully one day it will. If the admins feel this is the wrong place, please move it to another forum instead of deleting it, thank you.

We are trying to start a small group of youth riding ATVs to show them the outdoors and give them a taste of something they can do other than just sit on the couch, play video games, watch TV and text message their friends.

Our motivation to start this project has been the increase of juvinile crimes, vandalism, drinking & drugging that has been rising in our neck of the woods.

We are trying to find people who have broken but fixable or old atvs that they no longer use that they could donate to this project. We could also use any information you can give us on ATV junk yards or random trashed ATVs that people might not be using and are just letting go to waste.

I know this isn't a nation wide search for us personally, but I was hoping maybe this would draw some attention to what we are trying to do in our area and possibly get a spark going in others to help the kids in their community some way.

Yah im selling my RC, I cant aford the gas and I want somthing a little more managable for collage. It has been well maintained for the 3 years i have owned it. I have replace most of the sensers, termostat, ect. I have flushed all the diff systems like trany, cooling, oil... It has no major dents or scratches but, the clear coat on the roof is pleeling. All the glass is is im amazing condition, no cracks or chips. Has power windows and locks but i have brand spankin new oem replacment parts for it, the drivers is patialy installed but i have hit a snag and the pass is still in the box. Has AC but does not work I know that the fan and head unit work and the pump is good but im no cooling expert and didnt want to pay to have it fixed. Its running a LA block 318 with a TBI and a one off ,legal, exaughst that sounds sweet with out beeing too loud. It has 160 somthin thousand miles on it. Selling as is for 2200 or best ofer. for more info pm me.

KEEPERS

I grew up with practical grandparents who had been frightened by the
Great Depression in the 1930's. A mother, God love her, who washed
aluminum foil after she cooked in it, then reused it. She was the
original recycle queen, before they had a Name for it... A father who
was happier getting old shoes fixed than buying new ones. Their
marriage was good, their dreams focused. Their best friends lived
barely a wave away. I can see them now, Dad in trousers, tee shirt and
a hat and Mom in a house dress, lawn mower in one hand, and dish-towel
in the other. It was the time for fixing things; a curtain rod, the
kitchen radio, screen door, the oven door, the hem in a dress. Things
we keep.

It was a way of life, and sometimes it made me crazy. All that
repairing, eating, reusing, I wanted just once to be wasteful. Waste
meant affluence. Throwing things away meant you knew there'd always be
more.

But th en my mother died, and on that clear summer's night, in the
warmth of the hospital room, I was struck with the pain of learning
that sometimes there isn't any more.

Sometimes, what we care about most gets all used up and goes
away...never to return. So.. While we have it... it's best we love
it... And care for it.... And fix it when it's broken..... And heal it
when it's sick.

This is true. For marriage.... And old cars.... And children with bad
report cards... And dogs and cats with bad hips.... And aging
parents.... And grandparents. We keep them because they are worth it,
because we are worth it. Some things we keep. Like a best friend that
moved away or a classmate we grew up with.

There are just some things that make life important, like people we
know who are special.... And so, we keep them close!

I received this from someone who thinks I am a 'keeper,' so I've sent
it to the people I think of in the same way... No w it's your turn to
send this to those people who are 'keepers' in your life. Send it back
to the person who sent it to you if they, too, are a keeper. Good
friends are like stars.. You don't always see them, but you know they
are always there.

Keep them close.

Good to finally see my alma mater (Dayton High) has finally made it to the State Football Championship (4A, division II) for the first time ever! They will play Sulfur Springs this Saturday in the Alamodome in San Antonio, and I'm planning to be there to see the game. Should be a good game.

Anyone else on this forum have a football team going to State this weekend (perhaps another Dayton H.S. alumni or a Katy H.S. alumni)?

first date horror story

Hope this isn't inappropriate, but everyone needs a good laugh. Have a good day!

If you didn't see this on the Tonight show, I hope you're sitting

down when you read it. This is probably the funniest date story

ever, first date or not!!! We have all had bad dates but this

takes the cake.

Jay Leno went into the audience to find the most embarrassing

first date that a woman ever had. The winner described her worst

first date experience.

There was absolutely no question as to why her tale took the prize!

She said it was midwinter...Snowing and quite cold... and the guy

had taken her skiing in the mountains outside Salt Lake City ,

Utah.

It was a day trip (no overnight). They were strangers, after all,

and had never met before. The outing was fun but relatively

uneventful until they were headed home late that afternoon.

They were driving back down the mountain, when she gradually

began to realize that she should not have had that extra latte.

They were about an hour away from anywhere with a rest room and in the middle of nowhere! Her companion suggested she try to hold it, which she did for a while. Unfortunately, because of the

heavy snow and slow going, there came a point where she told him that he had better stop and let her go beside the road, or it

would be the front seat of his car.

They stopped and she quickly crawled out beside the car, yanked

her pants down and started. In the deep snow she didn't have good

footing, so she let her butt rest against the rear fender to

steady herself. Her companion stood on the side of the car

watching for traffic and indeed was a real gentleman and

refrained from peeking. All she could think about was the relief

she felt despite the rather embarrassing nature of the

situation.

Upon finishing however, she soon became aware of another

sensation. As she bent to pull up her pants, the young lady

discovered her buttocks were firmly glued against the car's

fender.

Thoughts of tongues frozen to poles immediately came to mind as

she attempted to disengage her flesh from the icy metal. It was quickly apparent that she had a brand new problem, due to the extreme cold.

Horrified by her plight and yet aware of the humor of the moment,

she answered her date's concerns about' what is taking so long'

with a reply that indeed, she was 'freezing her butt off' and in

need of some assistance! He came around the car as she tried to

cover herself with her sweater and then, as she looked

imploringly into his eyes, he burst out laughing. She too, got

the giggles and when they finally managed to compose themselves, they assessed her dilemma. Obviously, hysterical as the situation was, they also were faced with a real problem. Both agreed it would take something hot to free her chilly cheeks from the grip of the icy metal! Thinking about what had gotten her into the predicament in the first place, both quickly realized that

there was only one way to get her free. So, as she looked the

other way, her first time date proceeded to unzip his pants and

pee her butt off the fender.

As the audience screamed in laughter, she took the Tonight Show

prize hands down. Or perhaps that should be 'pants down. 'And you thought your first date was embarrassing. Jay Leno's

comment...'This gives a whole new meaning to being pissed off.'

Oh and how did the first date turn out? He became her husband and was sitting next to her on the Leno show.

Whenever I get bored, I check out the new cds that are coming out and listen to some songs from them to see if I am interested in buying them. Last night, I saw that Randy Houser is one of the artists who released a cd this week so I went to his myspace.com/randyhouser page to listen and really liked it. His is one of the cds I am considering buying. His music is amazing. Has anyone else heard of him before or his music?

Eli Young Band, from Denton, TX has become one of my favorite bands in a hurry since I heard their new album, Jet Black & Jealous. Despite that, I was shocked to see that they are in Yahoo’s who’s next competition http://music.yahoo.com/promo-29644410 . It is very uncommon for a country band to get that sort of recognition so I'm quite excited for them. If you don’t already know them they are really worth taking a couple minutes to check out, and if you like what you hear please vote for them!!!

ATV Stereo's

I have been doing alittle research on putting some tunes on my quad, if you see my truck, you would know I like my music. Well, those boxes I have seen, are way to bulky and would defeat the purpose of the KQ headlite. Plus some of those setups are crazy expensive. Well this one I installed isnt cheap either, it sure isnt bulky. Sure I paid for it, but this thread isnt about making one from scratch. Its another ideal for a easy setup that can be bought. Dont ask how I found it, cuz im not sure how I found this site either, I can say though that they sound pretty darn good. It doesnt have a sub, but I wasnt looking for ear blasting bass out on the trails either. The speakers mount on the rack, wires hidden under the plastic, running to my MP3/FM radio. I wanted to use an IPOD, but those dont have radio's. I have the MP3 player in a sealed container. One thing I want to point out about using a MP3 player is that if its battery operated, a single AAA battery may not provide enough audio output voltage to maximize volume. Low compression ratio recordings will sound better than high; and FM radio will be a bit louder than any digital recording as it is analog. Tickle Me Elmo:

There is a factory in Northern Minnesota which makes the Tickle Me Elmo toys. The toy laughs when you tickle it under the arms.

Well, Lena is hired at The Tickle Me Elmo factory and she reports for her first day promptly at 8:00 am.

The next day at 8:45 am there is a knock at the Personnel Manager's door. The Foreman throws open the door and begins to rant about the new employee.

He complains that she is incredibly slow and the whole line is backing up, putting the entire production line behind schedule.

The Personnel Manager decides he should see this for himself, so the 2 men march down to the factory floor. When they get there the line is so backed up that there are Tickle Me Elmo's all over the factory floor and they're really beginning to pile up.

At the end of the line stands Lena surrounded by mountains of Tickle Me Elmo's. She has a roll of plush Red fabric and a huge bag of small marbles.

The 2 men watch in amazement as she cuts a little piece of fabric, wraps it around two marbles and begins to carefully sew the little package between Elmo's legs.

The Personnel Manager bursts into laughter. After several minutes of hysterics he pulls himself together and approaches Lena.

'I'm sorry,' he says to her, barely able to keep a straight face, 'but I think you misunderstood the instructions I gave you yesterday...'

'Your job is to give Elmo two test tickles.
