There's also Cherokee up west of college station. I've heard they have great trails and a track.

And don't forget about the forest, but being your wifes first time it may be a bit much, the trails are pretty long

Don't get too jazzed about the track at Creekside because they don't maintain the quad track. You can still get your jump on but it's not the greatest. Definitly a good day ride place close to Houston though. I haven't heard of Cherokee. Do you have a website?

We went to creekside today and the trails were pretty cool. They were cool enough for us to take a cruise thru.  Wifey LOVED it. And thats all that pretty much counts. The jumps are alot better at mud buddys (by far) but it was still alot of fun. There was some mud, but we found our way around. We will deffinetly be back to do the trails.

Well it looks like I have a game in Tyler on Friday :( ...as of yet nothing on Saturday. I am willing to give up my Sunday of watching Saints football to hit the trails. I'm thinking General Sams if we don't get too much rain between now and then. What say you Ken.

well the gf is pulling the "pay attention to me" card and doesnt want to go ride or camping...  scratching

so I guess I will be riding without her... seeya

general sams is cool, but its a 1.5 hours away and probably still pretty muddy.  it was only a week ago (maybe 2) that we had all that non-stop rain....  confused  when its had a couple months to dry out the trails at GS are great, but IMO the trails at creekside are pretty good too and not so prone to being bottomless mudpits...

Yeah, I know that card. That is one of the reasons we went out to get my wife a quad. Creekside had some water of course but not very muddy and they were all pretty much crossable. Or had an alternate route. I've been to general sams before, and I think that place was more for 4x4's. But it had just rained when I went. Like you said, it may be alot of fun when it dryies up. The track didnt seem to have been worked on in a while, but it was alright, I guess. Mud buddy's has an awsome track. The jumps there are a blast. You can catch some nice air there. I saw online that there is trails in Sam Houston National Forest, and would really want to check those out. I think we need to have some kinda tags on our quads though.

if you couldnt tell from my signature, she had plenty of options for what to ride.. Big Smile

I want to check out sam houston too, but HP went off and removed his spark arrestors... I still have them on the 450r.  you do have to have a registration sticker to ride at the forest, which requires a training class and some other BS, supposedly.  However I have heard that papahouse @ the conroe dealership, cycleshack I believe, has the stickers too....

of course you could always show up to ride (alot of times there is no ranger, the access fee is an honor system) and if the ranger says something just play ignorant and apolgetic.. coolg

    Re: NEW ATV PARK!!

no class needed, just a spark arrestor and the OHV sticker, which costs $8. Most delerships have them, I know Wild West in Katy has one.  The forest is a lot of fun, but if its been really dry the sand is deep. Not so much a problem on a quad, but I've only riden dirt bikes out there and it wears you out. theres a few different trail heads, and most trail come right back to the trail head. Some are short and some are long (20+ miles). AFAIK, even if you play ignorant, if you're caught w/o a spark arrestor they'll ticket you, I've even heard of them making you push it back, but I don't think thats true.

You can get the Texas Parks and Wildlife stickers at Wild West or Cycle Shack North in Conroe. Spark arrestors and the ATV Safety class are required as well as helmets and eye protection. The rangers are real sticklers for the rules and will ticket you! I have heard of people getting some very heafty fines My neighbor got tickets totaling about $600

I most definetly will be goin out there to check out those long ass trails. Looks cool online. And as far as the trails are concerned, the longer the better. I appreciate the info. on the park rules.

Yeah! Long trails with a cool scenary and no mud are sweet. And I hope the trails at the national park have just that. But if your looking to catch some air, then mud buddy's is the place to go. The jumps there are just awsome.  I can't wait to get a weekend off to back there.
