Hi all, went searching on Google for Texas riding spots and I found this forum. Good to see how active this forum is!

I'm from Houston, but currently living in Austin. I race cars, kiteboard and fly model airplanes..or pretty much anything thats an extreme sport. Recently I rode a friend's Yamaha Raptor 660 and fell in love with quads again. I've always wanted to get a race quad since I got my first atv back in 1995, a 300cc Honda Fourtax. I still have it to this day, but its used for farm utility. Looking to pick up a new or used Yamaha YFZ450 around this holiday season. Anybody know where I can find the best deal on a new one in the Austin, Houston, or DFW area?

Anyway, hope to get something soon so I can get out to the tracks and trails. Racing cars is fun, but I'm ready to do some offroading!

welcome, my dad had been BIG into the model airplanes for many years now, he even has a club that comes out to our place and fly. i never got into it. i crashed one too many. but now i got him into quads so woo hoo.

as for dealerships, there is a yammy dealer on 35 just north of san antonio. i have never been there, so i dont knwo anything about it, but its there

 IMHO I wouldnt waste my $$ on a new quad.  you can find a 1 or 2 year old quad with mods for about half the price of new on here, gcqra.com, tqra.com, craigslist, etc. also try http://www.searchtempest.com/  it combines craigslist with ebay, cycle trader, etc.   happy hunting

Ditto. I bought 2 brand new quads and kick myself in the ass for it everyday. There are a lot of smoking deals right now because there are a lot of people that are feeling the effects of the times and they are just trying to get rid of almost brand new quads/dirtbikes/any toy you can think of. There are some LTR-450's that are track ready for 3500 bucks. Welcome to the forum.

 Yeah, I realized it was pretty silly to buy a brand new quad. At the time I was looking there were no cheap used ones so I was figuring thats how much the were going for. Recently though it looks like the used YFZ 450 market dropped and they are generally much cheaper. Picked up a 2006 one the day before Thanksgiving. Just ordered a new set of ITP Holeshots for it since the current tires are bald. Love it, can't wait to get out on some tracks and trails!

Looks pretty trick. I can't wait to get my bikes fired back up again.

Welcome to the forum. This is a cool place to get info on trails and tracks. These people have been a great help in locating areas to let loose.

 I don't know what that is, but I'm planning on catching some trail racing events sometime in the future. I'm still living in Austin now and have to finish up college first, after that I'll be moving back to Houston (Waller area).

Hope to hit up Mud Buddys in the next couple of weeks though, looks fun as hell. Only problem now is my bf doesn't have anything to ride.

Where is the muddy gras held at? And when is it? I'll definetly try to make it there. Sounds like a party I wouldn't wanna miss.
