That is GREAT NEWS!  I have been looking for a place to do ATV dirt or sand drags in the Houston area for quite a while.  I can't wait to come check out this new dirt drag strip!

What is the track like?  Is it hard packed dirt or loose/sandy?  Are sand paddles allowed?  Are wheelie bars allowed?

    Happy trails...:)

Best way to describe the dirt is a packed sand.  Most ran paddles today and traction was literally perfect.  Most of the faster machines today were in the 70 mph range in 300 ft.  We are putting the guard rails up this week and lights will be here thursday, but might take up to a week to install.  We will try to be open every weekend at least for test and tune, then look forward to some events bi weekly.  Oh and wheelie bars are most certainly allowed.

     Thanks Dee

    Hi Dee,

You probably don't remember me, but my name is Mike.  I took my old Kaw. Prairie 650 to your shop for dyno runs about 3 or 4 years ago (right after you got your dyno).  Anyway, is this a 300' track with a 700' shut down area, or a 1000' track?

I'm going to tell all of my ATV buddies about this new drag strip.  I know a handful of guys that will definitely be just as interested in trying it out as I am.

PS - Will this track be open on Labor Day?

    Happy trails...:)

    fyi:

I called my riding buddies and we are planning to try out this new drag strip on Sunday (probably around 1pm).  I look forward to it.

Opening this new drag strip now is VERY TIMELY b/c I'm now told that S.C. will be shutting down (probably by the end of this year) and that means the end the only local place that we have for sand drags.

To anyone else reading this thread, feel free to join us at Splendora MX this Sunday afternoon for some fun on the 300' drag strip.

    Happy trails...:)

My buddies and I are still planning to try out this new 300' drag strip on Sunday (assuming its not closed due to the recent rain).  If anyone else would like to join us for the fun, please post below.  Not sure exactly what time we will get there, but I'm guessing around 1 pm-ish.  Be sure to call the track before you go to make sure the drag strip is open.

    Happy trails...:)

I tried out the new sand drag strip this morning and all I can say is WOW...they did an excellent job setting it up.  Its a very nice facility complete with guard rails, lights and timers.  I was very impressed and had a lot of fun this morning.  I will return tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon for more fun with my riding buddies.

    Happy trails...:)
