    NYC vacation pics

I recently returned from a long weekend in NYC (vacation trip).  My wife and I had a blast...we saw/enjoyed the following:

toured Central Park in a rickshaw,
saw Shrek the Musical at Broadway Theatre,
took water taxi to see the Statue of Liberty,
walked over the Brooklyn Bridge (30 minutes...its LONG!),
    ate awesome pizza at Lombardi's,
ate at River Cafe (great view of NYC skyline),
ate some just ok italian food in Little Italy (nothing to write home about),
ate hot pastrami sandwich and cheesecake at Carnegie Deli,
shopped/people watched in Times Square, SoHo, Greenwich Village & Little Italy, etc.
rode the subway at night (not as bad as I thought it'd be),
visited the top of empire state building and top of Rockefeller Center,
saw Paul Mooney do stand-up at Carolines on Broadway, and
ate various foods from street vendors (hotdogs, Gyro, pretzel, icecream).

Was a VERY fun trip, but also expensive and very exhausting.

Below are a few pics we took while we were there...ENJOY!

    Happy trails...:)

I went to NYC a couple years ago. I'm a big Yankees fan and I told my wife they were tearing down Yankee Stadium and I had to go. Grays Papaya had some of the best and cheapest hot Dogs around. 2 Dogs and a Juice was like $2.50. I loved it. We took a Red Bus tour just because we were there only for a weekend. If you are there for a short period of time it is a great way to get a snapshot of the city. Can't wait to go back. Sounds like you had an awesome trip.

Glad to hear that you got to see the Yankees plan in the old stadium.  I heard the new stadium has less seats than the old one (but more luxury boxes in the new one so they can make more $$$).

I had one of those hot dogs from Grays Papaya on other trip to NYC and I agree...they have good and cheap dogs!  On this trip, we had a $1 hotdog from a street vendor and it was also delicious (much to our surprise).

On this trip, my wife and I also did a red bus tour (Grayline bus tours) and we saw most of Manhattan during this 8 hour tour, including a boat ride out to see Lady Liberty and Ellis Island.  I agree the bus tours are an excellent way to see the city if you only have a short time to spend there.

    Happy trails...:)

You must be talking about the new launch pad in New York. I feel sorry for all the Yankee pitchers when they pitch at home now. Tickets are crazy expensive for the new ball park.

Street vendor dogs were good but they were no Lucky Dog Stick out tongue

been to NYC a few times, sounds like you both had a good time on your trips... those sandwhiches at Carnegie are fricking huge, plus the way they pack you in there sharing tables with total strangers.  one time I wound up sitting with parents of a friend of a friend in HS.  "its a small world after all"   LOL

I recall Lambordi's having really good pizza, but I was so f'n twisted that night is blur.. but at least we woke up a couple stops before our subway exit in Brooklyn and not in Coney Isle...

anyway, great pics...  I have friends in NYC so when I go its pretty crazy, plus getting to see the spots where the locals go...  I still cant believe it, especially with those Pace Picante "New York City" commercials, but some of the best mexican food I've had was in Brooklyn..

but I'll take my backyard over NYC almost any day, I still get concrete fever about day 4 or 5 every time I go.. Big Smile

The wife and I hada great time there...saw Wicked on Broadway and spent 4 days walking the soles of the shoes.  There is so much to see there we didn't even scratch the surface.  We did get to do the normal tourist stuff...I hated the ride to the Statue of Liberty...too many smelly people on the boat.  Subways were pretty cool once we figured them out.  Saw Central Park at night but didn't go ice skating, was really nice and the people were really cool to.  Definitely on the short list of future vacation spots.

IMO a better way to see the statue (from a distance) is to take the ferry over to staten island... FYI
