    NEW XC Series

Hey, I know a few people still look at this site and I just wanted to know what your thoughts about the new ATV XC racing series that TORN (Texas Off Road National) is planning for next year. Texas, has three XC series now, ATVCCS, STX XC, and TCRC. ATVCCS is the largest and most established with STX XC and TCRC new start ups this year. TCRC have had very weak turn outs with their ATV races and STX XC has done better but in my opinion has been disappointing givin the large market, south/ southeast, they are targeting. TORN has become the largest off road series in Texas in just a few years. They average over 500 M/C entries a race and recently had over 800 at a cosanctioned race on the same weekend another M/C XC series had over 300 entries. Thats over 1100 entries on one weeked! My question, is do you think TORN can have some of the same success with ATVs as it has had with M/Cs? TORN I believe laysout their own tracks, short, about 4-5 miles. This benefits the spectators, EMS, and sweep crews in their thinking. Their market is 100 mile radius of DFW and would race the ATVs the following weekend after the M/C race and the track regroomed for ATVs. For those of you that race ATVCCS the Maypearl race was hosted by the TORN people. The TORN website states they are planning one or two try out races for the remainder of this year, with a six race series for next year in their plans.    So lets see some comments by those that still look a this site.

In my opinion, we just need to get more people involved. this was my first year ever of racing an atv. i race with STX ATV and im loving it. yes i wish the turn outs where bigger, but agian, thats where we as a whole need to promote and get more involved!!! this is a great sprort and ive made MANY friends in just the few short months ive been racing. friends i would have never made outside of ATVs. I look forward to each race just to get together with these guys and gals just to see how they have been since the last race, and any new mods to their bikes.

when it comes down to it, yeah we may bicker at each other, but in the end we are a nitch group (one that is constantly getting crapped on) so i say STICK TOGETHER and get involved. cause in the end we all have ATV riding in common, and thats enough for me!!!!

within a 100 miles radius of DFW?!?!?   I am in.............

By the way, i dont think the maypearl race is a fair assesment of what TORN had in mind. That was a nasty mess brought on my mother nature.

    Re: NEW XC Series

I would be very glad to see more XC series for ATVs come to Texas.  The TORN races don't appeal to me only b/c I don't live in the D/FW area, but otherwise I'd be very interested!  Good luck to them.

I'm still hoping to compete in the STX ATV races this year...just haven't been able to make it due to a knee injury/surgery back in late Jan and early Feb.  (In fact, I'm having another knee surgery tomorrow morning b/c it hasn't healed up yet for some unknown reason).

    Happy trails...:)

Hey Mike, how are things? I hope well. Ole Dillard's knee surgery didn't get the results he wanted either, still getting fluid on the knee.

Ratman, the Maypearl race was a slop fest, but the track length, layout, and marking is typical of TORN races. Their tracks are usually no more than 5 miles, well marked, and include some open and or MX sections to it. They have had much success with this format with M/Cs.

    Re: NEW XC Series

Its been a rough year for me this year with 2 knee surgeries and non-health related problems too.  But I'm hangin in there.  Sorry to hear about David D.'s continued knee problems...I PM'd him earlier this year and he mentioned his knee problem, but I think that was prior to his surgery?  I hope he gets better soon.  I'm hoping that yesterday's surgery on my knee will fix me up for good.  We'll see.

If I recall correctly, there is a M/C group in the TX panhandle (near Lubbock) that added ATV races earlier this year.  As I recall, someone posted about these races on this forum at the beginning of this year...but I don't think they had good turn-outs for the ATVs, so not sure if they still have the ATV races or not in that series.

Best of luck to TORN.  I hope they get a good turn-out for the ATV races.  IMO, the more interest/participation in Texas XC racing for ATVs, the better for everyone here.  Who knows, perhaps the GNCC will return to Texas one of these days.  That would be sweet!  I raced in both the '04 and '05 GNCC races and I'd love to see them return.

    Happy trails...:)

    Re: NEW XC Series

Ive been checking out the TORN site. The concept is good and they seem to know how to put on races. Bike guys show up. I hoep the ATV crowd will support TORN and ATVCCS. I also hope that they look at each other schedules so they dont overlap.
