the bad news first/// after the run around i got talking to the city of port a, i finally talked to someone with the gun on their side.... Up until last week(two weeks ago) the area we had to ride was good to go...officially... two weeks ago, the city signed off on the lease to further their plans to finish the entire area of "charlie's pasture"...
"I just read your posts on Texasatvs.com concerning an event that you have planned in Port Aransas for August 01, 2009. The lands traditionally used by off-road vehicles in the area known as "Charlie's Pasture," are State of Texas General Land Office properties that have recently been leased to the city for use as a nature preserve. One of the conditions in the lease is that the city shall prohibit off-road vehicles within the nature preserve. The city is complying with the lease and has closed the area to off-road vehicles. I would hate for your members to trek all the way down here with the intent of holding your event only to find out that Charlie's Pasture is closed to the public while construction is underway.
Our beaches are considered public roadways and all traffic laws apply (vehicles must be licensed and registered to operate on the beach). Your members can operate street legal vehicles on the beach, but not ATVs.
We welcome you and your members to come to Port Aransas and enjoy all that we have to offer, including great beaches, family oriented parks, excellent restaurants, and a vibrant nightlife. But they should leave their ATV's at home as there is no place for them to be legally operated within the city limits.
In the future, if you would like to hold a similar event in the city we may be able to accommodate you with plenty of advanced notice and proper permitting. Please feel free to contact me and we can see what we can work out for a future rally."

Upon recieving this email, i called the chief.... He was very cool... He expressed his apologies explaining that he, and his officers used to tear that place up all the time.... He also offered STX-ATV an area to hold an event on the Island in the future....It sounds like a awesome place... I will be in negotiations with the city, working out the details of the event that we are trying to get off the ground sometime before spring break... it sounds like a hell of a deal....
so we have to postpone the event until next year before spring break... but we are sure that once we put all the pieces of the puzzle together.. the event will be the only of its kind... in texas ... in the USA....
thanks for everyones understanding and we hope to see everyone at RD6 in Marble Falls Tx___ Hidden Falls Hidden Falls Adventure Park.....
thanks
