For the sport bikes you guys should check out Mud Buddies.  The guy who owns the park is a sport rider and has a good ATV track out there.  They also have a great trail system that is one-way only and is a lot of fun to blast thru on a sport bike.  Its right outside of Halletsville which is about 1.5 hrs from Katy.  Its worth the drive.

As far as riding in Katy its kind of like stated above.  There is that quarry over off 529 and Barker, but its limited.  If you jump on the bayous from there you can make quite a ride of it though.  There is also another quarry off Mason Rd, near Morton Ranch.  Its OK too and you can catch the bayous from it and cross under a few bridges and travel all around the Katy area.  Ride the bayou's at your own risk of course though.  On top of wash-outs and other obsticles some Sheriffs and Constables don't appretiate ATV's on the bayous.

I'll definetly try out mud buddies Haven't been to crosby yet. Let me know how it is for the sport quad.  General Sams was pretty cool but it was pretty muddy when I went out there.  I'll probably go check 290 this weekend, to see if its open. I guess it's worth a try anyway.

We just bought another quad for my wife to start riding also. When I went to mud buddys this weekend, I saw that it would be a perfect place to take her out for her first ride. So we will be going back to mud buddys to ride the trails as soon as I get another weekend off. I just wanted to know what the reservation deal is? How long ahead of time do you all need? Do you allow night rides when campin out there?  Oh, by the way, the guy at polaris west told me to go to mud buddys also.

    New guy out in Katy.

Have you riden the retention pond at Morton and Porter? I've taken my dirtbike out there a bunch, and will be taking the Quadrunner out there too.

Hit me up with other areas you find

Don't know if you are talking to me, but I will go check that place out when I get a chance.  Another area that is a blast is Mud buddy's.  There's a little bit of everything. The jumps are a blast.

Guess I should have quoted you the first time, but yeah.

I'm going to check out Mud Buddy's soon hopefully.

This saturday I'm taking the dirtbike down to Southwest MX park in needville. It looks like it'd be a lot of fun on a sport quad, they allow quads monday - friday.

Once I get the 500 4x4 Quadrunner goin strong and pretty, I'm going to try and trade if for a sport quad, or sell it an buy a sport. I'd love a z-400 or a Raptor (350 or 660)

The retention pond off Porter north of Morton is fun for a while. but from there if you don't mind crossing the street a few time you can follow bayous south and get to Mason and I-10. A freind and I on dirt bikes went that way and kept going south. we almost made it to George bush park. Or you can go west. We made it as far as greenhouse. One of these days I'm going to try and make it to Eldrige, and all that area around the addicks resivior. Just don't stop, the LEOs will be none too happy to find you. We got lucky the one time, they just sent us home

I took a drive to look for the retention pond, but could not find it. I may have been in the wrong area. I found a walkin/cycling park with a little pond. Was I even close? I'm willing to try any trails, as long as I get to ride.  If I have to run from the cops, thats just a good reason to haul ass... But I'll go look for that spot again cuz its not far from where I live.

Re: Anyone ridin near Katy, TX?

You were very close. From there you would have needed to go north to Morton, turn right and then turn left where Porter picks up. You can't see the pond from the road, but up just a bit there is a red fence. If you turn in just on the north side of that fence, you go go around it and park on the other side, and your truck will be hidden from veiw, and you'll be right on top of the pond.

if you cross morton, you can follow that to the back side of the pond bike trail thing you saw.  At that pond/bike trail, follow the bayou left and that should take you around to Franz and you can go under Franz. From there you can get to I-10 and Mason.  I'm sure you can also explore that area around the movie theater too, but I haven't explored that.

If you come out of the rentention pond on the far west side, you can follow that bayou west. We made it to Greenhose.  My goal one day is to try and make it to Eldridge and the Addicks resivior.

The pond is cool because its close and if you only have an hour or so to kill and you need a fix, thats the place. If you're following the bayous, keep moving, if the police see you, they'll run you off and/or give you a ticket
