    Age restrictions on ATV's

I am looking at buying my soon to be 7 year old son a Cam Am atv. I was looking at the 90cc but was told he could only use a 50cc. The sales person did not explain if this was a Texas law. I did a brief search on the net and all I found was age limitations. Do any of you know if Texas has a law that restricts the size of ATV's according to age?

No age laws..  Don't tell them who it for and you will not have to hear all that.  My 8 year old rides a 220 bayou all the time..

Way back when folks were getting killed or seriously injuried on 3 wheelers all over the place the major manufactures agreed to enforce the CPSC's age restrictions on ATV's. It's isn't a law in Texas although there are a lot of states which have laws. You can read about them here: http://www.atvsafety.gov/index.html. If they knowingly sell an ATV to someone for a child younger than the guidelines state and that kid gets hurt on it, you can bet that there will be lawyers waiting in a line to take the case. Like he said above you can always just leave out the age of the child and they might sell to you, after all they want to sell it and they know they are not going to sell 50cc quads to 12 year olds so they have an incentive.
