Need help with some setup for a quad to ride in the mud.

Hey i am needing some help with a quad i am helping my nephew with to set it up to be able to ride in some of these deep water mud trails .I know my way around quads and have been riding mostly sport but have rode my fair share of utilty quads but have not had much experience with some of these deep water trails that are here in east texas .I am helping my nephew get this bike setup and in turn i can use it to ride a few trails .The quad i am working on is a 1990 somthing honda 300 2wd with a winch on the front and some worn down swamper tires .He has taken it some trails and it can hold its own even though its 2wd.I have rode alot of the 4wd of this model and i know how dependable they are .I was wanting to snorkle this bike and extend the exhaust for starters to keep the inside of the engine dry .I was wondering what the best route is a prebuilt kit or a trip to home depot the best idea  .I was wondering if someone had a set of mesurments or at least a list of all the fittings needed to accomplish this if i was to go the home depot route.I need to know the best options for the exhaust as well .Can anyone tell me a good set of stock or afttermarket tires to put on this thing .I know the front tires dont turn so a big bulky set does not seem like a good idea .I dont know this is where someone with experience with this particular bike comes in .I am open to buy anything that you might have for sale to benifit making this bike trail worthy.Any input or suggestions to help me along will be good thanks in advance ron .

As to the tires a set of 26" Outlaws on the back would be the best. I would keep the stock ones on the front. Anything else would be a hinderance to push through the mud.

As to the snorkle, the best advice I have is to putt the seat, look at the air box and determine the best way to get to the front rack with piping. Every bike is different, for example my AC 300 took 5' of 1 1/2" pipe and 2 90's to make it where my Grizzly took a number of reducers and various fittings.

Anyways just look at it and then go to Lowes (if you have one) and buy an assortment of fittings. I would stay with 1 1/2" pipe so that you will avoid having to jet it.

Also Lowes has a spa hose that is heavy duty white and is semi-flexable. It comes in 1 1/2". Home Depot has it but only in 1 1/4" (which is to small) The stuff at Lowes will actually fit into the 1 1/2" pipe fittings. All you have to do is mock it up, mark it and then use regular pipe glue to put it together.

I hope this helps. If you have any other specfic questions let me know.

A lot has got to do with exact year model of the 300,,,, if it's a '93 or newer you're set,,,, easy to snork because of where the airtube goes. IF it's a pre '93,,,, it'll be a bit more difficult. Which is it?

Its a 1998 model.I dont have any stock tires for the front only the worn down swampers .I was thinking about a set of mud lites they make a set for the rear and the front and the front ones are a little narrow .I want a set of tires that the tread almost matches or matches .

Not sure if you wanna go this way, but you might want to go check out Arctic Cat's 2009 lineup.  They have a new ATV(Mud Pro) that is turn key ready for the mud.  Believe it's a 700 EFI which is snorkeled and so on from Arctic Cat themselves.  Speaking of this, I also believe Can-am makes a bike like this now too.
