I'm from Amarillo. We ride at the Canadian River some, but I have grown tired of it over the years. It would probably be a good weekend trip for someone who has never been there. Just head north on 287 (I27 turns into 287 in downtown Amarillo) about 10 -15 miles, you'll run right into the river. Cant miss it. About 10-15 miles of trails, (clay, rock, dirt, and numerous hills) Alot of Mud if you ride a 4x4. The river is kind of low and people have been crossing it lately. No amenities except on the Annual Mud Bogs in February, and you must have the Texas ATV Sticker ($7 or $8) and helmet,just in case a park ranger stops you, .
We have been thinking of heading out to Lake Mackenzie, you ever go out there?
